Q.What is Veterinary Osteopathy.
A. Veterinary Osteopathy is a system of examination and treatment which emphasises methods of recognising and alleviating structural and mechanical problems in the musculo-skeletal system of the animal.
Q. When Should I Contact An Osteopath.
You should contact a Qualified Veterinary Osteopath if your animal develops any back, neck or limb problems, and has had a consultation with a veterinary surgeon to rule out any pathological problems.
Q. How Many Treatments Will It Take.
This depends on what the actual problem is with your animal. The osteopath should be able to give you some indication of how many treatments your horse will require after their initial consultation.
Q. Should I Consult My Vet
You should always consult your veterinary surgeon before having your horse treated by any other practitioner. It is an offence for anyone to treat an animal without referral from a veterinary surgeon.
Q. What will it cost.
The answer is that it will depend on how far I have to travel, and how many treatments will be needed. Standard rates for horses are £50 for initial consultation and £45 for subsequent visits, plus callout fee depending on distance. The equilvalent for dogs are £35 and £30. Individual rates will depend on circumstances, so please do call me to discuss the options.
